This is one of my favorite pictures as well. It has a fairytale, old-world feel to it.

hi, justine. hope you still check this blog. i'm getting married dec 06 and it's also at mary the queen. wasn't sure where to have the reception for the longest time. strangely enough, when i was searching for cafe ysabel weddings on google, your blog was first to come up. so, hey. :) i've yet to drop by cafe ysabel but i used to live near there and pass it on the way home all the time. it seems like a great place. are the people nice and accommodating? did you take up the entire cafe or did you have it in the separate room? any complaints at all, however minor? would appreciate any comments. thanks! - lisa
Hi Lisa, I couldn't have been happier with our Cafe Ysabel wedding reception. Gene, the owner of the school and restaurant, is a good friend of my husband's. Glady is very accomodating and very easy to talk to. The food in Cafe Ysabel is good. As per Gene, if there's one thing you have to take care of in the wedding, it's the food because that's what people remember. We estimated around 200 people so we had to reserve the entire restaurant (upstairs and downstairs). That was one part that we had to sacrifice, being with all of our guests the whole time. We had to stay mostly upstairs and then go downstairs to join our other guests for picture taking. What's great about having your reception at a restaurant is you don't worry at all about the food and the service. This mattered a lot to us because we chose a sit down dinner. What you worry about mostly is the restaurant space and the parking space. But in the end, everything turned out perfect. Hope I was able to help.

that's great news. thanks for the contact details! they mentioned table centerpieces come with everything. did you like them or did you have to do extra decorating?
I had my florist do the centerpieces as part of my package deal. It wasn't elaborate (had roses with other simple blooms and candle lamps). If I had more time on my hands I would have opted to do my own place cards and menus. It was our decision to prioritize food over florals and decorations. Cafe Ysabel just provided the menu print-outs which served their purpose. By the way, we did not assign tables. Because it was a small wedding, we just divided our guests into: family + entourage and friends. All family and entourage were in the "Chocolate area" (upstairs) and all friends were in the "Caramel area" (downstairs). It worked out just fine and lessened our headaches over who to sit where.
